I have read several books by Freida McFadden and she has yet to disappoint. Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC of this book!

Summary
The nightmare she's running from is nothing compared to where she's headed.

What is a happily ever after really worth?

Naomi was living the quintessential love story. Boy meets girl. They fall in love, get married, buy a dream house, start a family…

Then―he kicks her out, hires the city's best divorce lawyers, drains their accounts, and takes up with a 20-something.

It's a brutal end to the story. Naomi should accept defeat: move into a dingy apartment, get back into the workforce, and piece together the shattered remains of her life.

Except, why should she?

Instead, Naomi fixates on her husband's new girlfriend. What begins as cynical curiosity soon twists into obsession―and then into something far darker. As Naomi uncovers secrets she never imagined, she realizes her own life may be in danger.

But if it keeps her perfect family intact, isn't it worth it?

What I Liked
The main thing I love about Freida's books is her writing style as well as short chapters. They are easy books to follow and I cannot stop reading them once I start. I like how I can be annoyed by fictional characters, that to me is a sign of excellent writing. There were portions of the book where I felt bad for Naomi as well in regards to their son Teddy. I can honestly say out of the main characters I did not relate to or like anyone! They all were annoying in their own way.

What I Didn't Like
I felt like the protagonist, Naomi was very gullible and was too trusting of Jeremy. I knew what was happening from the beginning and found it very predictable. However, that did not stop me from finishing the book as I found it entertaining.  There were still twists that I did not expect especially toward the end. I love how Freida has you suspecting one person of several nuances, but it is in fact someone else who has many secrets. Is this a believable story? Most likely not, but it kept my attention in true Freida fashion.

Rating
⭐⭐⭐

I gave this book five stars on Goodreads. The reason I gave it 5 stars, is because there were a lot of turns I did not see coming from the beginning. Do I recommend this book? Absolutely!
